What sort of patients come to see Dr Dwyer?

Anyone with an acute or chronic injury or pain problem is suited, from the recreational athlete to the injured worker, through to the swimmer going to the World Championships.

Sometimes injuries can be difficult to diagnose and treat and Dr Dwyer looks to achieve accurate diagnosis and a customised treatment plan to get you back to being active again as soon as possible.

Dr Dwyer works closely with other General Practitioners, Surgical Specialists, physiotherapists, and other allied health practitioners to rehabilitate all musculoskeletal injuries.

There is no age restriction.

What are Dr Dwyer’s Qualifications?

Dr Dwyer is a General Practitioner with Specific Interest in Sports and Musculoskeletal Medicine.  He has a Bachelor of Physiotherapy, a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.  He is recognised as a Specialist GP by the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency.  Dr Dwyer has post graduate qualifications in Musculoskeletal Medicine.  See the About Us section for more information.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring all X-rays and scans that pertain to your injury.  Reports are helpful but can be easily sought. The real pictures are very helpful.

You should also bring your Medicare, or DVA Gold card.

If you have a Work Cover Claim Number, please bring it along.

Please bring a list of your other health conditions, as well as any medications you may be taking.

Do I need a referral?

Whilst referrals are welcome and often helpful, it is not a requirement. Dr Dwyer is a GP with specific interest in Sports and Musculoskeletal Medicine and therefore does not require a referral.

To allow for an efficient appointment, please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time.  This is particularly important for the first appointment as there is paperwork to go through prior to seeing Dr Dwyer.

Are there costs for an appointment?

Yes, there are costs associated with each appointment.Medicare rebates are always applicable.

Private health insurance does not apply.

There are discounts for pensioners.

DVA Gold Card holders are not charged.

What should I wear?

Loose fitting clothing that allows easy access to the injured body part is advisable.
